Frequently Asked Questions

What impact will it have on our power bill by switching to energy efficient windows?

Beginning in 1992, with help from ENERGY STAR®, American families and businesses saved $297 billion on utility bills and prevented more than 2.1 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2013. Each Pella® product meets or exceeds ENERGY STAR certification in all 50 states and most of Canada. How will this affect you? Not only might you find a decrease with your heating and cooling costs, you’ll also help protect the environment.

How much will my replacement door or replacement windows project cost?

Our windows and doors are each specifically designed and customized for your home, meaning no two projects are alike. Our large variety of products make it difficult to discuss pricing without first understanding your needs, wants and the project results you envision. Due to this nature, we find it helpful to send out a Pella sales representative who can give you a quoted project price upon seeing the project site itself. To speed up the quoting process, your Pella® sales representative is equipped with a computer and a portable printer so that they can give you all the quote information you’ll need—once the sales representative has a chance to consider the requirements of the task and matches them with your vision.

In addition to offering a large assortment of high-grade products to pick from, we also have a generous offering of payment and finance options. Pella is uniquely-suited to offer you excellent window and door products at affordable prices, giving you a chance to make the upgrades you want to while building great value into your Long Island area home all the while.

Can I paint my vinyl windows?

The advantage of Pella's® vinyl windows is that you don’t have to. You can choose the color your want. We do not advise painting your vinyl products, as this will end your warranty. Some paint companies say that their paint can work on vinyl, but it could destroy your windows if the wrong paint is applied or done incorrectly.

What should I use to clean my glass windows?

We suggest that you use a prepackaged vinegar-based cleaning mixture or use an ammonia-free glass cleaner such as Windex or Sparkle. You can also mix your own with one part vinegar to ten parts water. Put the solution on a soft, clean microfiber cloth or paper towel. Do not use glass cleaners that are ammonia- or alcohol-based as they have a tendency to leave streaks or create a film that attracts moisture and dust.

Do Pella® employees actually install your replacement windows and doors?

Pella uses reliable installers who are certified to install Pella products. We require them to complete a rigid set of training courses so that your windows and doors are installed properly and meet Pella’s strict warranty standards. We seek out the best Long Island-local people and recruit them to install our projects. Before they can be hired, Pella requires them to pass a drug test and background check. Our installers are fully covered by liability and workers compensation insurance. In addition to Pella product warranties, your installation is also covered for 10 years under the installation limited warranty and service agreement.

What's different about buying replacement windows and doors from local Pella® showrooms versus buying from retailers like Lowe’s?

Your Long Island Pella branch offers services and support that “big box” stores can’t perform. Our experts are highly-trained in selling, installing, and servicing Pella Windows & Doors. Using a dedicated Pella sales team, project manager, local service technicians, and professional Pella installers means that you will have the strength of our whole team. We like to use the term “single source accountability”, meaning that there’s no one to chase down regarding a product, installation, or warranty issue. Simply contact our office, your sales representative, or our project manager with any questions or concerns you may have and we will get to work resolving the issue.

Why is Pella® the right choice for my home?

There are several important reasons why Long Island homeowners select Pella for their replacement window and door needs. Pella was founded in 1925 and has remained privately-held the entire time. Every one of our high quality windows and doors are manufactured with high standards and serviced by Pella’s certified Direct Sales Network. Unlike other manufacturers who sell exclusively through retailers, Pella has dedicated replacement window and doors stores across the United States and Canada. This unique way of operating our business gives our customers in Long Island a convenient and personal experience with the support of a local to Long Island, Pella-certified team. Whether you are looking for the beauty of wood, the strength of fiberglass, or the low maintenance of vinyl—Pella has a top quality, energy efficient and durable solution.
